Over Her Dead Body
Paul Rudd continues his climb up the list of most annoying actors with this one. I'm not seeing what the public sees in this guy. Granted this movie wasn't supposed to be good, but it was even worse than I imagined. The storyline may have worked if it was a bit more serious. They had a chance for a chills like ending, but the mood of the movie did not allow for it. On the bright side for Rudd, he was not the worst in the movie. The other two leading ladies and Jason Biggs were even more annoying than him.

Awake
I wanted to mix up the genres a little bit, so decided to watch Awake. Went in with very low expectations, but enjoyed it quite a bit. Should have known it would be good considering Terrence Howard, Shooter McGavin, and Anakin Skywaker starred in this thriller. The twist towards the end was very unexpected and the end was heart-felt. The biggest problem was the fact that they showed some gross scenes of the surgery, but other than that, it was worth a watch.

Thursday Night Throwback: Harry And The Hendersons
The second throwback of the year was inspired by an episode of 30 Rock, where they referenced the movie throughout. It was hilarious in the show, and the movie itself did not disappoint. I love any work done by John Lithgow, so there was little chance for a flop. The "Bigfoot" they discover is nothing like you'd expect, in a good way. The only thing missing was the fact that the kids were a waste of space. Granted it is tough to find good kid actors, but they could have done better than that.

Baby Mama
I do not know why I even watched this one considering the two main characters are women. But Tina Fey's 30 Rock is gold, so thought this might have a chance. Unfortunately, nothing about this movie was very funny. They tried to bring on some male humor with Dax Shepard, but his attempt at comedy was a disgrace. You would think Fey could have gotten some SNL male members to try and make it a little better. After this movie, I realized not to bother watching a women casted comedy unless it is Miley, Selena, or Demi.

Bedtime Stories
Adam Sandler has been off and on with his movies for his whole career. It seems he takes any part offered to him without even thinking about the consequences. He produces gold with movies like Happy Gilmore and Mr. Deeds, but then comes out with absolute garbage such as Little Nicky. Although Bedtime Stories surpasses some of his work, it was too childish for Sandler's capabilities. He can pull of many different roles, as we saw in Reign Over Me, but this movie was a waste of his time. A nice storyline at times, but overall not up to par with past Sandler gems.

Nights In Rodanthe
Decided to watch this one because it was written by Nicholas Sparks, who wrote the classic The Notebook. It was overall a pretty good storyline with a sad ending which Sparks is known for, but Richard Gere did not do it for me. In fact, I have not enjoyed Gere in any role, so this movie was doomed from the start. Luckily, the emotional storyline hid some of his defects and made the film watchable. Hopefully, Sparks' next movie starring Miley Cyrus will be a bit better.

The Illusionist
Finally got around to watch the poor man's Prestige. Not comparing it to that movie, which is probably around a 9.5, it was pretty good. The main problem was that Edward Norton was not that likable. The ending was a very nice twist, but I thought they could have executed it a bit better. I wish they would have explained the magic tricks Norton was doing throughout the film, as The Prestige did. Because of this, I will always wonder about the ghost illusions. Overall, it was well worth my time to watch.

Thursday Night Throwback: The Usual Suspects
I've heard good things about this movie for a long time, so I decided to give it a watch. All I knew beforehand is that there is a surprise ending, which ultimately hindered the last scene. Knowing the case, it was fairly obvious who the killer was half way through the movie. The scene where the cop drops the coffee and discovers where all the killer's stories come from was one of the funniest scenes I've ever watched thanks to Leslie Nielson's Wrongfully Accused. Seeing the parody before the real thing made a serious, shocking moment more funny and amusing. Even with all the previous experiences, the movie was still enjoyable. The Usual Suspects was a good start to my Thursday Throwbacks.
